Tribe

Its funny how people call me by my second name and when they need the official full name they ask me, ‘what’s your second name?’ I tell them the one by which you’ve been calling me, is my second name. Some get shocked because the mother-tongue which I speak differs from my name. To others, apparently my appearance says different too. Names in my country, Kenya go hand-in-hand with the tribe one hails from.

NB:- Just because one speaks a certain language, it doesn’t mean they hail from that particular tribe. A person can learn a language.

I remember during the 2007/2008 post-election violence here in Kenya I scratched my head wondering, if I walk into the middle of this violence and those killing others due to tribal differences ask for my Identity Card, what shall I say? It was an issue for me, for I am not of one tribe; I speak one language, my name bears another tribe and my slender sort-of-long neck tells of another tribe. The generations before me were created from 3 different tribes and I am of a 3rd generation that still bears this result.

Today am left to wonder, what identity do I pick? Do I identify myself as of a certain tribe? If so which one should I pick and which one(s) should I dismiss? Why do I even have to pick any if I do not identify myself as of either tribe?

My answer; I choose NONE!

See, when one is in Christ, one acquires a NEW life (Ephesians 4:24) and identity (2nd Corinthians 5:17). As a Kingdom citizen, I choose to pick the new identity found in Christ; I choose to speak Heaven’s language and no other. By this I mean in whatever language I speak, it does not matter, but of whom and what I speak of. You and I may speak different languages, look different, but as long as we professing the same Christ who has cleansed us of all our sins, we are ONE. So you ask me which tribe I belong to…my answer; I belong to tribe of Jesus Christ!

As I write this, my thoughts flow towards the song ‘we are on in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord….’ Sometimes, I feel that as Christians, we do miss a piece of the cake. Yes we are human, but shouldn’t Christ be our EXAMPLE if we are truly His followers? If we speak the same language, then why do others in our midst feel like they do not belong, yet they are part of the family; God’s family? Why do we at times act as if we pray a different God from one another, as if our God is not ONE?

The word ‘tribe’ doesn’t have to mean difference in languages; it could connote different things:-

 Tribe of the social elite class {how we speak/act}.
 Tribe of the high-end fashionistas {how/what we put-on}.
 Tribe of same skin-color.
 Tribe of same opinions.
 Tribe of the church we attend.
 Tribe of the same body size etc.

Most of us identify ourselves with the some of the above and other many more categories.

Questions are:-

 Which ‘tribe’ do you identify with, as a person who professes Christ?
 Why will you not fellowship with ALL our fellow brothers/sisters in Christ, break bread together?
 Why do we let ‘tribe(s)’ get in between us and bring a division amongst us?

Acts 2:42-47 should be our guide of how to live as ONE, a people that speaketh one tribe, the tribe of Christ. A tribe whereby as long as my clothing is decent (Romans 14:21), it doesn’t matter if it’s shabby, whereby it doesn’t matter if my English is broken or whether I can speak it or not, whereby it doesn’t matter where I live or how much I earn, whereby my body-mass index isn’t an issue etc, but Jesus Christ is the glue that has brought us together.

I speak so, not because I am perfect, but because I am guilty of belonging to some ‘tribes’ and passing judgment by it, which is WRONG and so unlike Christ. As I choose to speak one tribe, I pray to BE one tribe; live like Christ, love like Christ, till Christ SHINES through me.
May the Lord open our eyes that we may see which ‘tribe’ ails us. May we not be all words and no action. May we all gear towards speaking ONE tribe; the tribe of Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Saviour. Amen!

Grace and Peace.

pulsate their pulse rate

this is a prayer for the weary, worn & torn;

this is for the broken hearted,

who feel that they can’t no more,

who want to pluck out their hearts,

to stop it from beating

for with every beat is

a reminder of their pain

as every pulse is rated

by the amount of pain

breaking into pieces that the

wind won’t blow away;

click clack into their hearts,

re-do, remake, re-weave them

again,

make their hearts one

one with You

You as their heart beat

a heart beat that pumps

breadth, life into their lives

till their dry bones

click clack

with a joyful noise unto thee

O Lord.

Amen!

Ephphatha

You are the Alpha and Omega
You are my beginning and my end
the beginner and finisher of my story
the author of my biography
I am trusting You with that pen
every drop of ink, every curve of the letter
as You draw and make my path,
the path that You chose for me
the direction You ask me to follow
the purpose You created me for,
every curve, every turn You make,
I want to trust You
every direction Your compass faces
I want to face
when You call, I want to hear You
answer You and not delay
so just say
‘Ephphatha’ and I shall be opened
my ears, my eyes, my heart shall be opened,
they shall be healed
my ears shall be inclined towards You,
like Abraham I shall follow faithfully and
not ask questions
I shall trust and obey You
just say ‘Ephphatha’ and
my heart shall be set in Yours,
I shall know,
understand of Your love for me
that Your heartbeat shall be mine too
just say ‘Ephphatha’ and
my eyes shall be lifted towards the heavens
I shall see how mighty You are thus
I shall understand Your works
and be not like the Pharisees
who have eyes but not see
that I shall not miss a curve, a new paragraph
a new chapter
just say ‘Ephphatha’ and Lord I shall be healed
my tongue shall sing of Your praises
filled with thanksgiving
I shall dance to Your tune
that You and I shall be in tune.
Amen!! Amen!!

Lay Your Hands on me………

layinghands2

Luke 4:40 (“…………….and He laid His Hands on every one of them and healed them.”)

Lay your hands on me
That I may talk like You;
Your mouth.

Lay your hands on me
That I may hear like You;
Your ears.

Lay your hands on me
That I may see like You;
Your eyes.

Lay your hands on me
That I may speak like You;
Your tongue.

Lay your hands on me
That I may think like You;
Your mind.

Lay your hands on me
That I may touch like You;
Your hands.

Lay your hands on me
That I may walk like You;
Your footsteps.

Lay your hands on me
That I may be like You;
Your Imitator.

Today; IT IS FINISHED!

JesusIf today you feel that your life is a mess and you do not know how to make it better, if today you want change/renewal in your life, if today you have this emptiness inside of you that you keep trying to fill, if today you feel you cannot continue to live the same way anymore, if today you just want to stop and not move anymore, then let today be the day you call upon the name of Jesus Christ.

Jesus says, if anyone calls upon my name, I will save them, (Joel 2:32, Romans 10:13).

Jesus Christ says, I came so that you could have life and have life in abundance, (John 10:10). I left heaven and became man (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John = the Gospel), so that God could be reconciled with you. I gave up my life, by shedding of blood and dying on the cross so that you could have yours and have it eternally. That mess that you think that you are, that gap that you are trying to fill, I can take care of it.

IT IS FINISHED (John 19:30), He said on the cross.

Today, your mess, that gap that you are trying to fill, that stop you want to come to so badly, can be finished too. How, you ask? It is as easy as ABC; Accept that I am Christ, Believe in your heart that I am Christ, and then Confess with your mouth that I am Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God, who died on the cross, so that you could be saved, so that you could receive eternal life.(Romans 10:9-10)

He is the Price of Peace, He is the healer that heals all diseases; mental, physical, emotional, spiritual, whatever illness that the doctor has said cannot be healed, He is the great Physician who wipes them all out. By my stripes you, my people are healed, (Isaiah 53:5).

So today, if you are feeling like a mess, today if you are feeling like you want to come to a stop, today if you are feeling like you just want to give up, today if you feel like that gap can no longer be filled by alcohol, sex, pornography, masturbation, money, work-holism, drugs, relationships, just call on the name of Jesus Christ, and you my brother, and you my sister, will and can be saved, will and shall be set free.

There is still hope for you, for Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the one who was, who is and who is to come, the one who is from everlasting to everlasting, the one who is still living, the one who overcame death, is the hope for this world. He can and will overcome all that you are going through, if today you just let Him say in your life today, IT IS FINISHED!

He was probably drunk or

needed some cheap lay

she was probably hungry with

no money to feed herself

he probably found her in the streets or

maybe met her in a bar

but they had sex

she probably was paid, but

cash that would not last her

a night, but

as a result a child was born.

Now she sits on the streets

she just sits there looking lost in her

thoughts

she does not beg and

if you try converse with her

she acts like she don’t understand

the baby is only a month old

but already sick from the cold

its immune system is crapped up

‘cause she cannot feed herself

nor the baby

does he know that his action had a

reaction?

that his giving into his fleshly lust

gave birth to a child?

or does he go on with life like

nothing happened?

See;

we act like what we do

does not matter

we walk around like we do

not care

we walk in and out of people’s

lives, like we do not affect them

yet probably we left their

life course changed,

yet probably we left effects that

shall lead to life-long infections;

For how long shall our fleshly lust,

our greed, pride

be more important than empathy,

for how long shall we walk around

sunk in apathy,

for how long shall we act as though

our actions do not have

purposefully living

It has been hard for me to live in a relationship with God. Having been betrayed by people, broken heart hasn’t been easy just to give it up all to fully trust in Him. It’s easier said than done, but i wake up and try to remind me that i am not a mistake, that i did not just come by; that someone purposed for my LIFE and thus i was created. Through this truth, i push on especially on those days i want to give up living and just exist and not give a care in the world. So this is my reminder as a i cry my heart out.

I did not just cross God’s mind

He knew of me long before

He took clay and with His hands

He moulded n curved me

and breathed life into my

being

and so i became

i became His

His creation

created with a purpose

created for a purpose

and so purposefully

i decide

to

start living

living for Him

living by Him

living thru’ Him

living with Him

and stop existing.

that poem

that poEm

i used to have that poem,

that had rhymes, that blew my mind
words that were intertwined
the groove was just might
and the mood just right
words that flowed down my spine
and left my body maimed

i used to have that poem

that shook my world
unbalanced my universe
boggled my mind
and made me fight
the injustices of the world

i used to have that poem

that made me love right
give in during fights
forgetting my own rights
and left me drained twice

i used to have that poem

that took my heart
and made me cry
that unfolded my mind
and made me find
ME

i used to have that poem,

but i don’t anymore…
